I’ve started working on Goliath Season 2 cutting sound effects. I can’t get into any details, but there is some crazy stuff in this season!
It has been enjoyable in both seasons to create the sound effects that play under the time lapse shots of Los Angeles. These often bridge scenes and show the passage of time. I try to find abstract sounds for the sun rising and setting, and if I see the trails of aircraft landing at LAX zipping through the sky, I use short high-pitched whoosh sounds often reserved for arrow fly-bys. I also have built stereo layers of lots of tiny whooshes swarming, to work with the images of cars or people rushing by in fast-motion. I’m sure the effects are played very low under the score, but it is nice to add that texture.
